We love Boston! Love that city. After spending all day at the conference, Todd and I would go out in the late afternoon and evening and explore the city... and there's lots to explore.
We stayed at a great hotel with a lot of history, it was an 80 year old hotel called the Boston Park Plaza. Interesting building, right?
Our first day in Boston, we explored Boston Commons and the Gardens. The Commons is a large park in the middle of the city with baseball parks and wide open spaces and the Gardens has a gorgeous pond with lots of trees, flowers, and foliage. Loved the Gardens, beautiful peaceful spot within the busy city.
After walking through the Boston Commons, we found the Freedom Trail. The trail takes you all through Boston, taking you past historical buildings, graves, and locations.
Places like the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was read. A gorgeous old building in the middle of modern Boston buildings. Right in front of this building is were the Boston Massacre occurred.
Places like the Granary Burying Ground where many Revolutionary heroes are buried. Heroes like John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and Paul Revere. This burial ground is amazing. So much history it's really incredible to walk through and feel the history.

The Trail also takes you to the harbor to visit the USS Constitution, also called Old Ironsides. After much walking, we were looking forward to a tour of this ship but it was closed that day. Total bummer. We had to settle for just a picture.

We also walked past the Old North Church. This is the oldest standing church in Boston and also the famous church used by Paul Revere when he asked fellow patriots to display lanterns; "one if by land, two if by sea". This is a fabulous pic of Paul Revere's statue with the church steeple in the background.
I honestly don't remember where this monument was displayed but it was amazing. Yet another piece of history in a fabulous town.
The trail ends at Bunker Hill, a historical part of the Revolutionary War, a site where battle was waged. The Bunker Hill monument is inspiring. Visitors can climb to the top and look out the windows for a spectacular view of Boston; that is if you can make the climb. It's 294 stairs to the top... and let me tell you... whew... it's a tough climb.
This is a view of Bunker Hill while laying on the grass after climbing all 294 steps to the top. I'm serious. My legs had turned to jello. While laying on the grass trying to keep my "jello" legs under control, I noticed we were in the shadow of the sun. Great shot, right?
The second evening in Boston, we headed to a Boston Red Sox baseball game. It had been raining all day so we were a little worried but by the time we got to Fenway, the sky had cleared and we were in for a beautiful evening.
Before the game we stopped at a local pub for some yummy food; nachoes for me and a burger for Todd. The pub is right next to Fenway park. It's hard to describe the energy around the area. Lots and Lots of people and lots of excitement for the game.

The clouds slowly started to roll in but the rain held out until the last five minutes of the game. The game was great!
Our last day in Boston, was devoted to the beaches. We visited Carson Beach, the oldest public beach in the United States, along with Revere Beach. It was a cold, cold day but still beautiful.
Like I said, a beautiful city. A destination spot for everyone, at least once in your life.
